Dr. Sasaki received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, general surgery training as well as fellowships in surgical oncology, chemotherapy, and breast cancer research at the University of Oregon Medical Center and served as an anesthesiologist during military service in Vietnam. After returning to Yale to complete his plastic surgical training and hand fellowship, Dr. Sasaki accepted a full-time faculty position, as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Hospital in Dallas and continued his academic career as Associate Chief of Plastic Surgery, Director of Plastic Surgery Research and Acting Chief of Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles County Hospital. Thereafter, Dr. Sasaki established his combined academic and private practice as Clinical Associate Professor in Pasadena and is currently Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical School.
Dr. Sasaki is board-certified in General Surgery (American Board of Surgery), Laser Surgery (American Board of Laser Surgery) and Plastic Surgery (American Board of Plastic Surgery). As a recognized innovator, KOL (Key Opinion Leader), educator, and clinician, Dr. Sasaki currently serves on editorial boards of several distinguished journals and is current member of over ten Medical Advisory Boards and Consulting/Investigator Agreements. Dr. Sasaki is President-Elect and Founding Member on the Board of Governors of the Aesthetic Stem Cell Society, as well as a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and numerous other societies. Dr. Sasaki has published over 123 manuscripts, 66 textbook chapters, 5 medical booklets, authored 3 books on plastic surgery, and presented over 125 teaching videos on aesthetic surgery, minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures. Dr. Sasaki has been visiting professor in plastic surgery over 85 times in 30 countries and awarded honorary life-memberships in the Japanese Society for Plastic Aesthetic Surgery, Australasian Society of Aesthetic Surgeons, Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and an Affiliate of the Royal Society of Medicine (England). During his distinguished career, Dr. Sasaki has trained over 50 research fellows in his research centers.
You may best remember Dr. Sasaki as the surgeon who reconstructed “Baby Jessica’s forehead defect that resulted from compression entrapment in an oil shaft in Midland, Texas in 1987.
Recently, Dr. Sasaki was awarded San Gabriel’s Valley Best Plastic Surgeon, Best Cosmetic Surgeon, and Best MedSpa (2024 Reader’s Choice Award), Super Doctor’s Award (2024 Los Angeles Magazine), and has been recognized as “Top Doctor” (Pasadena Weekly), “Super Doctor”(Los Angeles), and one of America’s “Super Doctors.”
